  • Nickelodeon (Usually abbreviated as Nick, And originally named Reel toy from December 1, 1977 to March 31, 1979), is America cable television network owned by MTV Networks, Subsidiary Viacom International. Channel primarily aimed at children ages 6-14, with the exception of weekday morning block of programs aimed at preschool children ages 2-5. Since 2006, Nickelodeon has been executed by MTVN Kids & Family Group president Cyma Zarghami. In 2010, the Nickelodeon cable channel was ranked as # 1 among kids 2-11 and 6-11 demographics, outranking competitors Disney Channel and Cartoon Network.[1] For most of its history, the channel has been promoted as the "Children First" Network, "such as Nickelodeon is the first American television networks aimed at children, dating back to the days under the name of a toy windmill. Nickelodeon broadcast day run on Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 to 20:00, Friday from 7:00 to 21:00 and Saturday from 07:00 to 22:00 (East and Pacific Time.) It shares channel space with Nick at Nite, A night channel / programming block aired mainly reruns of sitcoms, was created in 1985, which aired during the hours as and treated as a separate channel from Nickelodeon by A. C. Nielsen Co for ranking purposes.[2][3] Both these services are sometimes referred to as the collective name "Nickelodeon / Nick at Nite", because of their relationship as two individual channels sharing the same channel space.
